Christmas Ornaments

Christmas Tree

I want to start off by saying Alicia is amazing at decorating the house; our front room was so ready for Christmas and looked so good. I’m very happy she’s good with that sort of thing, cause I can never get past wishing things looked better.

Alicia wanted to start a tradition of buying a Christmas Tree Ornament at every place we vacationed and well, this has been a busy year and we picked up quite a few! To start off we have our Liberty of the Seas Cruise ship that we were on for our Honeymoon, followed by our first stop St. Martin. Then we have a cool artwork ornament of the 3 Wisemen that we bought in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Then, later this year we took a vacation to Zion Ponderosa and Zion National Park with a side trip to Bryce Canyon on our way home. They all look great on the tree and will be fun reminders of vacations in times past.

Happy Birthday Alicia

Friday, December 10th, 2010 // by Joel

Happy Birthday Alicia! It’s fun to have someone to celebrate a birthday wish, and this year certainly had lots of celebration! It started on Monday when I announced to her she’d be getting 5 Days of Birthday and I gave her some Star shaped Christmas Lights and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. But then the week turned into long and I didn’t get her her next present until Thursday, which was my big one! A brand new Dremel Trio to help her get started in her craft work. I gave it to her right after a fantastic lunch at Kneaders with my parents. A good time, and a good present.

Today, however, was the grand day but she’ll have to tell you about it in her own post, I’m just covering it from my side of things. Tonight we went to dinner at Johnny Carino’s in Sandy; I really liked it. I’m a fan of Italian food, but don’t really like Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill all that much. Johnny Carino’s is a lovely new place to go.

Afterwards we went across the street to Macy’s to return a wedding present and spend a $50 Gift Card we had to there. Total turned out to be $82.04 – this became Alicia’s birthday money.

After much searching and checking and wandering we ended up in handbag purse land where my beautiful wife came across a doozy with color, style, pockets galore and functionality. However, it was $130, $50 over her birthday limit. It was on sale for 25% off though, but that still only took it to a little below $100.

I picked up the purse and took it to the counter lady and said “It’s her birthday, we have $82, and we want this purse. What can you do?” She scanned it, took off the 25%, and then flipped through a mailer and found another coupon to scan. BAM. $82.70. We swiped the cards and then lastly handed over .66 cents (yep, I had exact change in my pocket) and off we went.

Now, I don’t carry purses, nor do I fully understand the need for women to carry everything they own in a bag over their shoulder, but I must say I’m a fan of this purse and all the functionality it brings.
